The Benefits of Women Lifting Weights

Regular exercise is not performed to solely improve your appearance, it also provides a great array of benefits including:

  • lowering blood pressure

  • preventing diabetes

  • improving mood and cognitive function and more

Many health issues that women face can be substantially improved with consistent exercise. Of course, exercise takes a fair amount of effort and discipline, but it is all worth it to help you live your best, healthiest life.

When we think of exercise and "losing weight" we usually lean towards cardio, downplaying strength training.

The muscle is in charge of movement (we need it for everything).  A strong body provides us with stability, balance, flexibility and helps us reduce the risk of injury.

Working strength is INDISPENSABLE to maintain good health & it goes beyond aesthetics

Here are the main reasons...

Improved Bone Health:  Exercise prevents bone loss and osteoporosis, women generally have thinner bones than men and lose bone strength more rapidly as they age due to the loss of estrogen levels, from the age of 30, fat begins to decrease bone mass and strength is lost and as a consequence fat mass increases (they begin to accumulate more), with strength training they can delay this process and avoid diseases such as osteoporosis.

Strength training helps build stronger, healthier bones, sculpts your body, improves your mood, increases your energy levels, and promotes healthy sleep patterns. Improving your flexibility and strength in your earlier years will help prevent you from developing bone loss and osteoporosis

For Metabolic Health: Women tend to accumulate more fat (visceral) as they grow older -the greater the mass and the less muscle, the insulin receptors are affected, which can trigger insulin resistance - metabolic syndrome.

The greater the muscle, the greater the OXIDATION OF FAT: Muscles need energy and “burn more calories” by themselves, therefore, maintaining healthy muscles with strength training will make them oxidize more fat and more efficiently.  Weights will help you build muscle and shred you into a fat burning machine. And you don't build muscle with cardio workouts the same way you build muscle with strength training. In other words, the more muscle mass you build with strength training and weight training, the more calories and fat you'll burn, even after a workout when you're on the couch watching a Netflix series or sitting at the office working. It's about raising your basal metabolism, which are the calories your body burns when you're at rest.

Muscles need energy and “burn more calories” by themselves, therefore, maintaining healthy muscles with strength training will make them oxidize more fat

Improved Sleep:  Strength training is a natural remedy for sleep problems. A small study published in the Journal of Exercise Physiology Online found that older people who engaged in intense to moderate weight-bearing physical activity for 10 weeks improved their sleep quality compared to sedentary subjects. In addition, people who are in the habit of following this activity feel more energetic throughout the day and relax better at night.

Improves Brain Funciton: Suddenly you'll have fewer memory gaps and your ideas will seem clearer and easier to explain. Apparently, during a body workout, the brain also receives benefits that have been shown with various mental tests that compare the mental agility of people who practice some exercise with weights with those of others who do not perform the same activity.

Reduce Stress: The effort and vigorous movements to lift weights or use the weight of your own weight as resistance to train has been revealed as a great physical and emotional liberator, useful in reducing anxiety in times of chronic stress. A circumstance that has been shown in studies with great executives with high levels of stress and with mothers with high positions and a lot of anxiety.

Do not be afraid of weights and strength training, it is necessary both for health and as a consequence your aesthetic state will improve.
